R&B Junk

Produzione magistrale di Brian Michael Cox, una ballata passionale e forte fa seguito a “Turn It Up” un brano scelto come primo per l’album di debutto di Johnta Austin, che però ha ottenuto poco successo. Ora arriva questa “Hood Love” che conta la collaborazione della Regina Mary.

Fantastica la fusione della voce maschile di lui e della strabiliante grinta vocale della nostra amatissima Mary J. (reduce da successi incredibili, il suo sacco è pieno di awards conquistati in ogni dove, ultimi in ordine di tempo i grammy…). La canzone si svolge nel tipico suono di Brian M. Cox, magari un po’ tedioso dato che le sue produzioni tendono ad assomigliarsi moltissimo, ma sicuro come l’oro questa canzone renderà di più della precedente!

Johnta ricordo è fautore di testi grandiosi per canzoni d’amore come “We Belong Together” e “Be Without You” lui ha rivitalizzato grandi voci con i suoi testi, portando prima Mariah, poi Mary ad essere artiste bestseller, una nel 2005, l’altra nel 2006! Era stato scelto all’inizio “I’mma Flirt” come seguito al successo di “Shorty Like Mine” per l’album “Prince of Fame” di Bow Wow, ma poi penso la label, o l’artista hanno preferito seguitare con un’altra produzione JD, questa canzone intitoalta “Outta My System”, che vede la valida collaborazione di T-Pain e Johnta Austin. C’è da dire che io preferivo di gran lunga il lavoro fatto con R.Kelly, decisamente un cambio di corrente e forse un po’ un modo diverso di presentare questo suo album che ad ogni modo apprezzo molto! Anche quest’anno sono arrivati puntualmente in dicembre i Billboard Awards i premi più prestigiosi d’America dopo i Grammy (mitici..), quest’anno la manifestazione si è tenuta a Las Vegas, tra i vincitori spiccano Mary J. Blige che si porta a casa una sfraccagnata di awards, grazie all’album The Breakthrough e alla canzone Be Without You… ha finalmente ricevuto i riconoscimenti che effettivamente si merita.

Anche Rihanna, la giovane principessa caribica si porta a casa diversi awards… soffiati a Beyonce (rimane aperta la faida…), per lei Pop Artist of the year, e Female artist of the year… woah!

Chris Brown, dal canto suo porta a casa best male, e best newcomer… un inizio di carriera col botto non c’è che dire!!

Per l’hiphop T.I. della G-Unit ruba tutto quanto c’è da rubare! Ma se lo merita…!

Le performance hanno visto in prima linea, Janet, che ha sfoggiato come al suo solito una coreografia epocale ed infallibile, esibendosi in Pleasure Principale, (un successo del suo album control del 1986) e S.E.X…. So Excited, remixata, con Fatman Scoop….

Altre esibizioni degne di nota quella di Gwen (sempre più fuori…) e poi Mary J. Blige… con Take Me As I Am ed Enough Cryin’ mostrando tutta la sua potenza vocale.

Non si tratta di un “rookie” nel music biz. Infatti Johnta ha contribuito a scrivere nel 2005 alcuni pezzi dell’album di Mariah Carey Multiplatinum e Multipremiato “The Emancipation Of Mimi”, ha anche co-scritto alcuni pezzi per Mary J. Blige, Tyrese. Mariah lo rivuole a suo fianco per il prossimo CD, la Blige ha affermato che “Johnta” è qualcosa di grande che avverrà nella musica black…

Insieme a Jermaine Dupri, appartiene alla So So Def records. Il suo album di debutto si intitolerà “Ocean Drive” e nascerà tra natale e capodanno 2006. Il primo singolo estratto dall’album è “Turn It Up” una mid tempo molto carina che piace man mano che si ascolta.
