Uno dei film più attesi dell’anno è senza dubbio Suicide Squad, lungometraggio basato sull’omonima squadra di supercattivi dei fumetti DC Comics ed in uscita nelle sale italiane il 18 agosto.
Come ogni grande produzione hollywoodiana che si rispetti non poteva mancare di certo una colonna sonora ricca di artisti ben noti e così ampia da formare un vero e proprio album. La soundtrack è stata affidata al compositore inglese Steven Price, già premio Oscar per le musiche di Gravity, mentre per le canzoni che andranno a formare l’album Suicide Squad: The Album (in uscita il 5 agosto) sono stati contattati artisti di spessore, da Eminem a Rick Ross, da Skylar Grey agli Imagine Dragons.

Anche se manca più di un mese al rilascio dell’album negli store, in questi giorni la promozione di Suicide Squad è entrata in una fase calda, tanto che sono stati già pubblicati i primi due singoli con annessi video con immagini tratte dall’action movie. Il primo singolo ufficiale, Heathens dei Twenty One Pilots, è uscito il 20 giugno e non ci è sembrato particolarmente memorabile e coinvolgente.
Di tutt’altro registro la traccia rilasciata oggi, una super collaborazione tra uno dei gruppi americani migliori degli ultimi anni, gli Imagine Dragons, e i rapper Lil Wayne e Wiz Khalifa, con l’ulteriore presenza di Logic, Ty Dolla $ign e gli X Ambassadors. Il brano si intitola Sucker for Pain ed è una potente produzione electronic/alternative rock, in linea con lo stile degli Imagine Dragons, arricchita dall’intensità del rapping degli altri artisti, ognuno col proprio inconfondibile flow.
Nel complesso ricorda un po’ l’aggressività di canzoni come Radioactive e Warriors (Imagine Dragons per Insurgent) e si sposa alla perfezione con l’atmosfera dark e cupa di Suicide Squad. Anche il video è molto incisivo e perfettamente coerente con la tematica; unisce alla presenza degli artisti alcune scene tratte dal film, che ricordiamo vede la partecipazione di Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne, Viola Davis (e molti altri).
